Sitemaps help search engines index your website’s content and notify search engines about your content.
If there is a post type or taxonomies that you don’t want to get indexed, then you can exclude it from here.
Step 4: Optimization
Add nofollow to image links and external links appearing in your post or pages. External links include affiliate links which you don’t want Google to follow.
Step 5: Final Step
Upon completion of configuration, you will see a tab below asking us to enable or disable data collection.
This section contains options related to Links and URL.
WordPress by default adds a category base in URL.
By clicking ‘on’ you can remove the category from the URL.
Next option is to Redirect Attachment URLs to the post they appear. WordPress allows you to attach images and other media to posts. But all of those attachments get their own URLs. Therefore by checking this box, you redirect all your attachment URL to the original post URL.
The next option is to remove stop words from the URL. By removing the stop words you will create clean URLs.
This section contains SEO options related to images appearing in your post.
When you enable the options in this section, it automatically adds ‘alt’ text and ‘title’ for the images where these attributes are missing.
Breadcrumbs are great for the internal linking structure of your site and they also appear in search results giving you added advantage.
In this section, you can choose how and where the breadcrumbs appear in your site and search results. It defines the internal structure of your site.
Webmaster Tools lets you see the insights and other data about your site from different search engines.
This section allows you to verify your site to popular search engines like Google, Bing, Yandex, Pinterest and Alexa. In order to verify your site, you have to add meta tag or upload a file to your site.
5.Robots.txt and .htaccess
In this section, you can edit the robots.txt file and .htaccess file.
Robots.txt file is a text file which tells web robots which pages to crawl or not to crawl.
The .htaccess file is a configuration file which is read by the server and it is used commonly for rewriting or redirecting URL.
The 404 monitor lets you see the URLs where visitors and search engine crawlers run into 404 not found errors on your site. It shows you the faulty URLs in the error log section of this plugin and allows you to redirect the URLs.
This section allows you to setup redirections on your site.
You can fix 404 errors by setting up redirections. Enable Redirections to set custom 301 or 302 redirections.
TITLES & META
This section contains SEO options related to all the pages of your site.
Here you can select the character you want to use as a separator between the titles. You can leave the robots meta as unchecked because you will edit them separately for each page and post.
Next option if enabled will automatically capitalize the first character of all title tags.
The last option is the twitter card type for all the post.
This section allows you to integrate your site with Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and Pinterest.
